Rivalry - Our Favourite Goals

With a massive weekend of explosive rivalries ahead including Arsenal Vs United and the Merseyside Derby we take a look at some of the best goals from these fixtures.

Henry Vs Utd

Definitely amongst the top 3 moments of Thierry's Arsenal career, this goal hardly needs description as most Arsenal fans (and United fans) remember it to this day. Receiving the ball with his back to goal outside the penalty area, Denis Irwin closer than his shadow and 2 other defenders bearing down, he flicks the ball up in the air, swivels and volleys it over a stranded Bartez in one fluid movement. Outrageous. Wonderful.

Welsh Wizard

Enter the Welsh Wizard, picking the ball up in his own half, he danced and slalomed his way in to the Arsenal box at a blur, humiliating all who stood in his path before rocketing the ball in to the roof of the net. United went on to win the Treble, and he went on to be the most decorated player in the Premier League.

1979 FA Cup Final

2-0 up with five minutes to go, Arsenal looked to be cruising through to the final whistle of the 1979 FA Cup Final. But Manchester United refused to go quietly and two goals in two minutes saw them back on level terms.  With the game poised for extra time, United's celebrations proved short-lived, as Alan Sunderland scored a last-minute winner, making the final result Arsenal 3–2 Manchester United. Heartbreak for United but fist-clenching joy unbounded for the Gunners and their fans as you can see. What a finale.

All Hail The King

Finally we had to end with a goal from the great Eric Cantona. He scored many beauties against Arsenal and we have gone with this rocket as our favourite.

Merseyside Derby

There is another huge rivalry this weekend, the Merseyside Derby! We thought we would end with a couple of our favourite goals from that game as well.

The time Gerrard single handedly pulled the Everton apart.

This rocket from Jagielka which Roberto Martinez described as the best ever goal he had seen live.
